Once and Always was my première with this author. This book is pretty curious. It brought tears to my eyes, it frustrated me and made me laugh. The protagonists were so damned stubborn, it frustrated me throughout the whole book until I was pulling my hair because I couldn't take it any more. Nonetheless this is a very funny and entertaining story. Judith's writing is fluid and it's pretty easy to follow her train of thought. She created a rational plot though I'd have appreciated an epilogue so that the reader could see what our protagonists are doing in a near future. The sense of happiness ended rather abruptly to me and I expected a little more from this renowned author. There was another little thing that bothered me and I gathered that's almost common in her books. I don't know how I feel about it yet. The thing is: it seems that in her books, or in various ones as I gathered, including Once and Always, there is some scene that borders on violation. Well, in Once and Always, in particular I can't say that I categorised that scene as a sexual abuse because my heart says that it isn't and my head says that if it wasn't, it was pretty damn alike. But Jason, the male protagonist, has made me reconsider this whole thing and I'm pretty certain that it was intended that way to shock some sensibilities and so that the protagonists could realise some things that there were seriously missing. I have really enjoyed this book in general. So I think I can say with absolute certainty that I will be reading more from Judith McNaught.
