The Catcher in the Rye

The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger This is a unique book. Never before have I encountered something like this in the world of literature. I loooooved Holden Caulfield. He's this savvy, opinionated teenager and it's wonderful to read his view of American society. The thing is - I don't think that Holden is the perfect role model for teens but that's why he is wonderful. I mean, he's smarter than his colleagues two years older than he. Salinger's writing is actually very fluid so this book really is a page-turner. Not only that, it's a very funny and ironic way to criticize the society of the fifties.
